Alexander's Store c.1990 / Tiles by Louise Eastman, 2015

Eastman’s latest project “Tiles”

June 03, 2015

Inspired by the iconic wall of Alexander’s Department Store on 58th and 3rd Ave, Eastman has created her latest body of work “Tiles.” Each tile is hand built, press mold, and cast in porcelain. They range in size from 10x10 to 12x12.” This project evolved from her 2014 project “Bricks” where she cast a new piece a day.

Alexander’s was demolished in the early 1990's.
